History of Pong with Paddles

Beer pong with paddles is said to have been invented at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire in the 1950s when two fraternity brothers were playing ping-pong and having a few beers. When a cup of beer was set on the table, one of the brothers hit the ball into it. From there, a beautiful game emerged and has since been adopted by the student body as part of the college’s drinking and partying identity. As decades have past, the game has evolved and seen common changes such as removing the handle from the paddle, commonly requiring lob shots, and adding more robust cup formations. In recent years, the game has started to get some traction across other US colleges, and alumni have also helped spread the game across the country and world.
